FEBRUARY 2026

The Great Transition is expressing itself through clear pressure zones where inherited and historic systems are decaying and new models are emerging. This is unfolding real-time, right now.

These pressure zones include the restructuring of work and value contribution, the relationship between humans and intelligent technology, the erosion and redesign of social trust, the decentralization of authority, the strain on identity and meaning, and the increasing demand for an evolved form of leadership. At the individual level, they are revealed as ambiguity, overload, and breakdown. At the organizational and societal levels, they appear as institutional fatigue, cultural fragmentation, and structural rigidity.

JANUARY 2026

Over the past year, the Human Innovation Institute has been focused on building the foundational architecture of a new discipline. We clarified our purpose, established the core frameworks of Human Innovation, and designed the structures needed to support long-term research, collaboration, and applied work. As we enter 2026, that foundation is now stable enough to shift from building to activation.

This year, our focus is on bringing human innovation to the world and produce real impact. We are publishing Institute Themes (more below) that serve as the anchors for guiding our research and provocations. We are advancing Frontier Domains that translate those themes into the real arenas where transition is unfolding in the world. We are organizing sponsorships, partnerships, and labs around those domains to ensure we hit our targets. And we are deepening engagement with mutual benefit partners who are building alongside us at the frontier of human advancement.

WHERE HII ADVANCES HUMANITY

We are living through a period of profound transition.

The structures, institutions, and values that once organized how we live, work, and evolve are under intense strain. Ahead of us lies a reconfiguration of the rules-based order that holds society together. These systems have structured the world since World War II, and in some cases have stretched back centuries. This "Fourth Turning," or as we call it at the Human Innovation Institute, The Great Transition, is an environment where old maps and playbooks are not only ineffective, but no longer represent reality.

The Human Innovation Institute exists to advance humanity through this Great Transition by engaging directly in the places where breakdown, decay, and transformation are already underway. These thematic areas, framed as Frontier Domains, represent the most consequential pressure zones facing humanity today. They exist where inherited institutions are breaking down and new ones have yet to take shape.

DECEMBER 2025

The Human Innovation Institute has entered a new launch phase. Over the past year we have been building the core architecture of the discipline of human innovation and the growth engines that will all us to deploy it.

As we move into this next stage of development, the through-line of our work has become increasingly clear: we are building the discipline of Human Innovation at a moment when individuals and institutions need new ways to understand, navigate, and shape The Great Transition.

This update outlines the major elements coming into focus including:

  • The Institute Themes that anchor our research

  • The Sponsorship Program that supports long-term institutional capacity

  • The flagship Partnership Program that applies the discipline in the world

  • The foundational publication that will define the field of Human Innovation

Together, these developments reflect the growing focus of the Institute and our commitment to helping leaders, partners, and innovators build the necessary capabilities, models, tools, and systems.

November 2025

We’ve been connecting and speaking with dozens of mutual benefit partners about the new and novel discipline of Human Innovation that we’re co-creating at the Institute. The conversations have been expansive and catalytic. Leaders across sectors are increasingly recognizing that in our world saturated with technology, the defining advantage is human capability including the ability to adapt, imagine, and lead what’s next.
