The Great Transition

We are living through a historical passage unlike anything most of us were prepared to face.

Across society, the systems that once shaped modern life are weakening. Institutions that organized meaning, work, trust, education, governance, and progress no longer carry the same legitimacy or meaning they once did. In their place, something new is trying to emerge, though it is still incomplete, unstable, and difficult to name. What many people feel today as confusion, fragmentation, exhaustion, or uncertainty is personal and civilizational.

At the Human Innovation Institute, we call this moment The Great Transition

The Great Transition is our framework for understanding the era we are living through: a period in which inherited and historical structures are decaying and degrading while new models of life, work, contribution, coordination, and meaning are being invented in real time. Old systems are losing their relevance, but new possibilities are becoming visible through the cracks. This creates both instability and opportunity. It is disorienting, but it is also deeply formative.

This e-publication was created to help frame that moment.
